Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add sales tax to a price?
Select Add tax, enter the net (pre-tax) amount and rate. Gross = net × (1 + rate/100). Tax = gross − net. Example: $100 + 8.25% → $8.25 tax, $108.25 gross.
How do I remove sales tax from a receipt?
Select Remove tax, enter the tax-inclusive total. Net = gross ÷ (1 + rate/100). Tax = gross − net.
Are the state presets exact?
Presets use approximate state-level rates. California, New York, Texas, Florida, and Washington also have local add-ons — enter a custom rate for your city if needed.
Is sales tax the same as VAT?
Both tax consumption, but US sales tax is added at checkout and varies by state and locality. VAT is common in Europe and shown on B2B invoices — use our VAT calculator for that.
