How to use the weighted grade calculator
- 1
List completed work
Add each assignment with the score you earned (0–100%) and its weight from the syllabus.
- 2
Include partial weights
If only 70% of the course is graded so far, enter those weights — the calculator shows your grade on work completed.
- 3
Plan the final
Pair with the final grade calculator to find the exam score you need for your target.
Weighted Grade Formula
Each assignment contributes its score multiplied by its weight percentage. Weights should total 100% for a complete course grade.
Example: Homework 92% (20%) + Midterm 85% (30%) + Final 88% (50%) → (92×20 + 85×30 + 88×50) ÷ 100 = 87.9%

Frequently Asked Questions
How is weighted grade calculated?
Each category contributes score% × weight%. Overall = sum of all weighted contributions. Example: 85% homework (40% weight) + 90% exams (60%) = 88%.
What if weights do not total 100%?
The calculator still computes based on entered weights, but results may not match your syllabus if weights are incomplete.
Can I enter letter grades instead of scores?
Enter numeric scores and maximum points. Convert letter grades to percentages first if needed.
How do I find what I need on the final?
Enter your current weighted grade, then use the final grade calculator with the final exam weight.
Is this grade calculator free?
Yes. Unlimited assignments with no signup.
