Overview
Tip math uses three formulas:
- Tip = bill × (tip% ÷ 100)
- Total = bill + tip
- Per person = total ÷ split count
How to calculate a tip
- Open the Tip Calculator.
- Enter the bill amount (pre-tax subtotal is standard in the US).
- Set tip percentage — tap 15%, 18%, or 20% presets or enter a custom rate.
- Read tip amount and total with gratuity in the results panel.
Example: $80 bill, 18% tip → $14.40 tip, $94.40 total.
Splitting the bill
